Walk'em Down
What an interesting week. We checked just about everything on the list this week. We had 3 earthquakes, two were barely anything but one was a 5.0 so I could feel that one for 10 seconds. It got the district hyped for the Obra!!! We were teaching a lesson with a family of converts, a mom and her two sons. There was also a daughter but she was never baptized. Believe it or not, mid lesson, I hear “10 things I hate about you” in Spanish, going on in the other room where the daughter was. I really couldn't believe my ears. We got to talk to her after that about rom coms and Heath Ledger, and then a little about church and building faith. That was awesome. I'm excited to go back! We talked to our neighbors and they want to learn and progress! One day our whole street will have the gospel! We ran for 15 minutes down a massive dirt road to get to our next appointment. Boy, that was actually really fun.
This area is massive so we are walking with diligence. Most people take little motorcycle taxis but missionaries can't, so we gotta walk everywhere here. Through the rain, mud and the heat, which doesn't make sense to me how those three mix, but that's just the way it is. I love one phrase in Preach My Gospel that says we must “have faith that the Lord is preparing people for us” now! Walk’em down is the mentality. If we have the fear to contact everyone, we'll never really know who the Lord is preparing! Walk'em down.
We have been teaching a family who is partially members. Their niece and nephew live with them because their parents had passed away about 6 months ago. Ismael and Julissa Flor! They are very cool and are some classic Guayaquil folks. We had been working with them since my first day in Duran, and they accepted the invitation to have the atonement of Jesus Christ in their lives through baptism!! They were baptized Sunday!! They both want to serve missions and go to the temple to perform work for their family. It was a very spiritual service and many testimonies were given about temple work! I know that families are eternal! It was so special to see this family unite in baptism!
Remember the motivation of LIFE
Matthew 10:38 And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.
39 He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.
Get lost in the sauce. Everything now is for your savior. The more you forget about yourself and focus on what you can do to change a life, the more joy you will find. It's all true. I have a testimony of that.
Selah!!!
In case I don't see yah Buenas Tardes, Buenas Noches, y Buenas Noches,
