The Blessed Week
This is the annual blessed week in the Sheppert household* and don't think I didn't enjoy it! Instead of playing 2k or Dota this blessed week, I got to be in a trio with Elder Grundy and Elder Lopez. I split my usual weekly time in half to go to their people. Although I only had half of my time I got to learn a lot of different things. I had to have zero hesitation in following the spirit this week. During my time, I had to teach a lot on my own and lead as best I could. I grew in confidence, in Spanish, and in leading for sure.
We got to baptize our friends Genesis, Alex, and Neiser. They are awesome. We first contacted them one by one. Neiser with one of his friends, then a little down the road, Genesis, then finally at the end of this dusty road Alex, and then met their whole family. They love playing soccer and eating. One day we got to play soccer with them in a part of town where everyone plays soccer every night together. We walked in as 3 missionaries and gave it our best. Around 60 Ecuadorianos gathered to watch around the chained fence of this outdoor court. We played for about 15 minutes without a goal on either side. It was getting late and we had to go so someone had to score. I got down to one side and someone crossed it to me and I shot and scored. I hit the Sui and everyone was going crazy. We left after and now have a lot of new people we need to go visit.
Something I have been focusing on is teaching for purpose. This can determine everything for contacts and teaching, our PURPOSE! As we understand our purpose, we can more help others understand, and understanding leads to conversion. My purpose is to help invite everyone to come unto Christ through Baptism and repentance. Something I still need to explore every corner of. It's a great work and I enjoy my 9-5. Selah!!
In case I don't see you, Buenas Tardes, Buenas Noches, y Buenas Noches,
Élder Sheppert
