Completamente Falso

This was a very strange week on all accounts. We had transfers, and Catarama, the one area far away, lost both Elders and one of them left back for the USA 4 days before transfers. So one of the zone leaders split to Catarama and the other stayed with me and my companion for the week. That was such a great learning experience. Elder Anderson and I got to learn from the master, Elder López. He's from the South of Chile so he talks at a million miles an hour in Spanish. Towards the end of that exchange, I started to understand everything he said, which made me very happy.

Because we have been watching Elder Bednar talks in both Spanish and English, we have had a ton of fun reciting talks. Elder Bednar has an interpreter who translates from English to Spanish after each sentence, so we pretend to do that too. There is one talk where Elder Bednar speaks on agency. An amazing talk to missionaries. He explains that Lucifer never had a plan of his own and that we need to understand that he rebelled against the plan of the Eternal Father and didn't lose an election. He uses the phrase “Absolutely False” and the translation during the talk is “Completamente Falso!” Elder Lopez and I love this phrase and that talk. Whenever an Elder accuses another Elder of doing something, they always respond with “Completamente Falso!”

I also got to go to Catarama to welcome the new Elders and show them around. Super cool and our zone just keeps getting better and better. There was a new Elder and I can't believe that is where I was 6 weeks ago. Flies by and makes me realize how much progress I have made.

I don't know what to say about this but my haircut makes me look very German right now. Maybe a little too German. Or maybe they don't understand what a Nazi looks like. There is a family that we were talking to that we are great friends with but they believe that I am in some way related to the people who lived in Germany during the early 1940's. After some convincing they agreed that I was a missionary not in disguise.

I have really tried to focus on using the power of the Atonement of Jesus Christ in my life this week. Elder Bednar explained in a talk that the Atonement gives us strength beyond our understanding in all things. We may not realize it every second, but because of the Atonement of Jesus Christ we overcome trials that we could never have without Him.

What a great week and a great work! Selah!

In case I don't see you Buenas tardes, Buenas tardes, y Buenas Noches,
Élder Sheppert
