Another Day, Another Dollar
There really is no break in the work. It is hard to be believe all that has came to pass in the last week. I got to go on a super cool intercambio-exchange with an Elder 1 hour away in the most isolated place in the mission. There is a massive bridge over the river and lots of huts and people. Probably the most interesting aspect of it all was that the other Elder knew no English. I was surprised how well things went that day. I would often try my best to say something and it would come out as nonsense to them. My companion luckily understood me enough to re-explain and that is how the day went. Super Chevere!!
I caught one Elder singing “Can't take my eyes off of you” and pulled out the guitar and we had a good session of singing after hours. One guy we went contacting with from the ward really likes George Michael for some reason. I got to sing “Careless Whisper" with him in the streets and got a really cool contact from it. We recently contacted a guy who is actually amazing at the guitar too. I didn't get the chance to play with him but he shreds no doubt.
I got a haircut today and now I look like the Russian boxer in Rocky 4 just without the steroids and skinny. I'm a changed man. I don't know if I'll ever get used to that but for now I'll have to look like my roots.
A soccer team stopped to watch us elders play today. I was wearing an Erling Haaland Jersey. Every time I scored I would do some celebration I knew from Fifa and they would shout “HOLLAND!!” I tried explaining to them it was actually a Jeffrey R. Holland jersey.
Saturday to Sunday was wild. We went from teaching 3 lessons to our friend's house who we had a date for Sunday to be baptized. His dad was having doubts. When we explained the blessings of baptism and what the Holy Ghost does in our lives, he decided it would be okay. His son also went through the interview with multiple people present and bore strong testimony of every principle. My favorite thing to see is the change in someone after baptism. They truly have a light about them and that pushes me every day to find more people. Once that was over we looked at the clock … we had a baptism starting in 10 minutes. We sprinted back to the house, grabbed everything and made it on time. Another amazing experience. Right after the baptism, it was time to go home and go to bed, but the branch president asked me to give a talk on Saturday night for Sunday morning. No time to rest, I wrote a full talk went to bed gave the talk, and then helped our friend Josue prepare for his baptism. Such a glorious day. Super cool, super fun and I saw the change in him today during soccer.
