Are You A Man Or A Schnitzel?!
Wow! How fast did this week go by??
Elder Anderson and I got to work. We met so many new people and we were spreading the good word of God all day, every day!! Now, when your Spanish is still not impressive by any means, it is hard going up to random people when you know you will mess up 99% of the time. For motivation to have no fear, I've used a phrase from Phineas and Ferb. Specifically, Doctor Doofenshmirtz's father's phrase and adopted by my oldest brother Alex, “Are you a man? Or a schnitzel?!?” As a young Doctor Doofenshmirtz and today-me would say: “I am a man! I am a man!” proceeding to full send with a very fluent “Como Esta?” and then “Cual es su nombre?”. And just nodding at what they say back sometimes. It has been a whole lot of fun.
My great friend Elder Grundy bought a bracelet but gave it to me. It had a name engraved on it, which was Pablo. This has many special meanings to me, but it has one in specific. Now you might think that it is referring to the amazing Kanye West album, the "Life of Pablo" or perhaps Pablo Escobar or maybe Pablo from the Backyardigans, but really for me it's about the great apostle Pablo-Paul from the Bible and more specifically, the New Testament. He shared God's message with everyone and had such a grand story. I often think about his conversion and his similarities to Alma the Younger and how anyone can change, no matter how far off the path you go. Everyone deserves the gospel, and I'm here to share it through service, teaching, and baptism like Pablo.
We invited a lady on the street to church last week and didn't think much of it. She came to church last Sunday, telling us that she wanted to be baptized this Sunday. So we got to work. Most of her family are members and it was almost like she was just waiting for the invitation. We taught her almost every day and she was ready. There's a picture of me with Hermana Eleyeen.
P-Day was awesome. It was right up my Uncle Tom's alley. I could totally see him, me, my cousin and some of my brothers going to a place like this, just a waterfall out in the middle of nowhere in the mountains. Super cool hanging out with the rest of the zone. We took some awesome pictures.
In case I don't see you, Buenas tardes, Buenas Noches, y Buenas Noches,
Élder Sheppert
